B. Our riches: More valuable than silver/gold

II. Be careful of thieves 

25. Sin And Evil will rob you “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.”  Matthew 24:12 


26. Satan will wound and kill you, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a  roaring lion, seeking whom he may ______________.” 1 Peter 5:8


27. Worldliness will steal Robe of Righteousness. “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone  loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust  of the eyes, and the pride of life-is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and  the lust of it; but he who does the will of God _________________ forever.” 1 John 5:15-17


28.Luke warmness and indifference will rob you. “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor  hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Revelation 3:16


III. Cry of those who fell among the thieves.

29. “…And Saul answered, ‘I am deeply distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has  departed from me and does not answer me anymore….’” 1 Samuel 28:15


30. “So David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.’” 1 Samuel 12:13


31. “Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will  have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when the young man heard that saying, he went away  sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Matthew 19:21-22

ROBBED, STRIPPED, WOUNDED, AND LEFT FOR DEAD (Pt One)

1. “Then Jesus answered and said: A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among the  thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and _______________, leaving him half dead.”  Luke 10:30


2. “Now by chance a certain _______________ came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on  the other side.” Luke 10:31


3. “Likewise, a ________________, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the  other side.” Luke 10:32


4. “But a certain ________________. As he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had  compassion.” Luke 10:33

“A certain man.”

An unnamed man, old man, young man, good man, evil man, rich man, poor man, you, me, any man. He  was going down from Jerusalem (Place of Worship) to Jericho (Place of Sin) and fell among the thieves. He  could have been a backslider, or a young person brought up in a Christian home. He had treasures. He was  robbed! 


I. Treasures of the Christian

A. Salvation: His name is written in Heaven. He has peace, joy, power.

7. “The Lord is my light and my salvation: Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life” Of whom  shall I be ______________? Psalm 2:71


8. “But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of ______________.”  Psalm 37:39 (Isaiah 12:2; Jeremiah 3:23; Zephaniah 3:17; 1Timothy 4:10) 


9. Only through Christ: “And has raised up a horn of Salvation in the house of His servant David,…”   Luke 1:39

LOSING JESUS Luke 2:40-49 (Part Two)

II. Can lose Jesus by lack of passion for souls:

A. “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30

B. “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the _______________ forever and ever.” Daniel 12:3

C. “Then He said to them, ‘The harvest is truly great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send our laborers into His harvest.” Luke 10:2

D. “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest?’ Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already ______________ for the harvest!” John 4:35

III. Can lose Jesus by having only a form of Godliness. Church without power of the Holy Spirit has no message:

A. “Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. Acts 12:5

B. “Now behold and angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light show in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, ‘Arise quickly!’ And his _______________ fell off his hands.” Acts 12:7

C. “And when Peter had come to himself, he said, ‘Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people.” Acts 12:11

E. Cannot produce revival:

a. “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be __________________ to You.” Psalms 51:12-13

Joseph and Mary lost Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:43) He can be lost in the church.


V. Can lose Jesus by a poor spiritual appetite:

Appetite=Joy of Salvation (Psalm 51-12) Strongest in those who “hunger and thirst”. Soul hunger will employ righteousness and the filling of the Holy Spirit. 

A. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6


VI. Can lose Jesus by lack of love:

Love is the strongest sustaining power. Brings unity by binding God’s people into one. Love imitates God:

A. “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children, And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a _______________________ to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” Ephesians 5:1-2

B. “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love, does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:7-8


C. Love speaks one language: 

a. “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek his own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

b. “If someone says ‘I love God’ and hates his brother, he is a _______________; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” 1 John 4:20 

When you realize you’ve lost Jesus, do what Mary and Joseph did. Luke 2:45

LOSING JESUS Luke 2:40-49(Part one)

New Bible Study For December 2025


Joseph and Mary attended the Passover Feast in Jerusalem and when they had fulfilled the days and were returning home, they went a whole day’s journey before they realized they had lost Jesus, supposing Him to have been in the company. 


I. How can we lose Jesus? By failing to pray: 

Prayer is the communion between man and his Maker. It is an attitude of mind rather than an attitude of body, and it is a result of faith, rather than a repetition of wants. It is a universal urge of man, who is made in the image of God. 


A. The Patriarchs set a proper example: 

a. “Would You also destroy the righteous with the ___________?” cried our Abraham. Genesis 18:23

b. “So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend…”. “Then Moses said to the Lord, ‘See, You say to me, “Bring up this people” but you have not le me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, “I know you by name, and you have also found _____________ in My sight.’” Exodus 33:11a-12

c. “Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.” And He said, “My _______________ will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:13-14 


B. Jesus, the great example:

a. “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went our and departed to a ______________ place; and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35

Proofs of Christ's Resurrection Acts 1:2-7 (Part Two)

IV. Holy Spirit Baptism is proof of His resurrection. 

1. “And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise ofof the Father,” which” He said, ‘you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.’” Acts 1:4-5


2. Some 50 days after the crucifixion of Christ:

a. “When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.” Acts 2:1-2

b. “Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave utterance.” Acts 2:3-4

c. “For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. But this is what was spoken of by the prophet Joel:…” Acts 2:15-16 (Referencing Joel 2:28-32)

d. “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your ________________ that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” John 16:7

e. He did go away. Acts 1:11 He did send the Helper.

f. “Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.” Acts 2:33  


V. Signs and miracles are proof of His resurrection. 

A. When giving his account of the resurrection of Christ:

a. Mark said, “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying _____________. Amen.” Mark 16:20 

b. “…let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, the by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.” Acts 4:10 


VI. Last day revival is proof of His resurrection.

A. Joel prophesied long before the birth of Jesus Christ;

a. “And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.” Joel 2:28-29

b. In his account of the happenings on the Day of Pentecostal, Peter said, “But this is what was spoken of by the Prophet Joel,…” Acts 2:16 

C. James spoke of the latter rain revival. Some believe that this Pentecostal revival began about 1906.

a. “Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.” James 5:7

b. James advises, “You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord Is at hand.” James 5:8


VII. Are we without hope? 

A. Some say there is no Resurrection. “Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead.” 1 Corinthians 15:12

B. “…who have ________________ concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past;…”  2 Timothy 2:18

C. “And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is _________________and your faith is also empty.”  1 Corinthians 15:14

D. “And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!” 1 Corinthians 15:17

VIII. Jesus is the resurrection and the life.
